6 1/2 Interesting Facts About Me

1 I started college at Missouri State University on a cello scholarship. I have always been drawn to music I started playing piano when I was 8 and then moved to cello when I was 10. Yo Yo Ma is one of cello heros. I think the book The Cellist of Sarajevo is a powerful book abut maintaing dignity and beauty during the darkest times. My favorite piece to play was Dvorak’s Cello Concerto Opus 4.

 

2. I love being outside. I love hiking and walking in every season. Each spring I can’t wait to hear the frogs wake up and start singing.

3. I have been married to my husband for 32 years. We have three adult children. The two oldest are both audio engineers working on each coast. The youngest is studying Animal Behavior and Ecology. Our family loves to travel, eat empenandas, and go to Cardinals games. We also enjoy river kayaking.

4. I tend to stutter and spit when I speak. The joke got started that my spirit anaimal is a llama. I have random collection of every type of llama thingey you can imagine. I love the movie the Emperor’s New Groove because of Kuzco. I think llama’s mouth and teeth are hysterical.

5. I am a pastor at Harvester Christian Church. My job is in Local Outreach. My responsibilities are things like connecting our church members with serving opportunities outside the church to unleash the hope of Jesus. I also try to connect people I meet through those community organizations with our church. It’s also important that I raise awareness and educate our church on justice issues such as homelessness, mental issues, and child wellbeing. I love Jesus so much. God calls me his “Babygirl.”

6. As an author you would think this a gimme but I love books. I love reading all kinds of books. I love listening to books. I love talking about books. I am part of a great book club that make the best suggestions of books. My favorite childrens auathors are Mem Fox, Kevin Henkes, and Jason Reynolds. My favorite adult fiction authors are Kristin Hannah, Amor Towles, and Geraldine Brooks. My favorite Christian authors are Timothy Keller, Max Lucado, and Lisa Harper.
